What a credible 90-day SEO plan looks like

Month one is not "rankings". Here is what should actually happen.

Set the expectation first

SEO compounds, which means the first month produces work, not results. Any plan promising rankings in thirty days is selling something else. What a good first quarter delivers is a clean technical foundation, a content plan grounded in real demand, and enough measurement to prove what is working by month four.

Month one — foundation

Technical audit and the highest-severity fixes. Analytics and Search Console configured properly, with conversion tracking that matches how the business defines a lead. Keyword and competitor research producing a prioritised topic map rather than a spreadsheet of volumes. Baseline reporting so improvement is provable.

Note: Working through this yourself? We publish the same checklists we use internally — no gated PDFs.

Month two — content and structure

Information architecture and internal linking, which is the most underrated lever in SEO. Service and location pages built or rewritten against the topic map. The first cluster of supporting articles published. On-page work across existing pages that already rank on page two — usually the fastest wins available.

Month three — authority and iteration

Digital PR and link acquisition aimed at relevance over volume. Conversion rate work on the pages now receiving traffic. A published experiment backlog, and a re-forecast based on what the first two months actually produced rather than what we assumed in week one.

The metrics we report

Non-brand organic clicks, qualified enquiries, keyword coverage by cluster, indexed page ratio and Core Web Vitals pass rate. Not "average position". See the technical SEO audit checklist for month-one detail and how we qualify a backlink for month three.
